Write Where You Live: Lincoln Square

  • Lincoln Square, Chicago, IL (map)

Are you a writer who is looking to move past blocks? Are you new to playwriting but don’t know where to start? This class is for you!

The goal of this class is to help writers find inspiration in their own back yard, while developing techniques to build a firm foundation for fresh ideas. Inspiration often comes through new experiences, and part of this eight-week course will involve getting out of the classroom and into the neighborhood. In these Encounter classes, we’ll be getting to know some of the people, businesses, and cultural institutions that make this Chicago neighborhood a unique place to live. These short classes will be paired with writing assignments designed to jumpstart your writing process. In Workshop classes, you will share your work and receive feedback from your fellow writers as well as the instructor. Throughout this eight-week class, you will create three short scripts that can serve as seeds for larger works.
